Great American Trucking Show 2012 Dallas Truck drivers are encouraged to put some sweat and effort into an event at the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) in Dallas August 23rd, 24th and 25th that can do some good for their fellow trucking employees and themselves. It’s fun, easy and free.

All truck drivers and their able-bodied families are invited to join trucking and transportation industry leaders from The Trucking Solutions Group for the 61+ Health Awareness Walk at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.

The 61+ Health Awareness Walk is a fun, noncompetitive 1.5-mile indoor course for anyone in the trucking industry who is thinking about getting fit, wanting to stay healthy or looking for tips to enhance their workouts.

The 61+ Health Awareness Walk is celebrating its third year as the first of its kind fitness event for the trucking industry. There is no cost, but registration is required at www.truckingsolutionsgroup.org. Registrants will receive walk packets and T-shirts (while supplies last) with health information and giveaways. Walkers will meet in Room D168 of the Dallas Convention Center beginning at 8 a.m.

Additional Blood Drive Event
The Trucking Solutions Group will also be conducting its annual blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross and Randall Reilly on all three days of the show. The blood drive will be held in Booth No. 21038

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, which creates the need for 38,000 blood donations every day. Less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood making the goal of 38,000 donations per day a daunting challenge. Because blood cannot be manufactured, the American Red Cross depends on the generosity of its donors to maintain their supply.

Hours for the blood drive are on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those attending the show at the Dallas Convention Center are invited to stop in and donate with no appointment needed.
