Women Vs. Truck for Cancer

We’ve covered plenty of stories involving how truck drivers use their big rigs to help out charity, but never quite like this. This story comes to us courtesy of our friends down under in Australia.

The McGrath Foundation wants to spread the word about breast cancer and the importance of breast examinations to women all over Australia. Pink truck owner Julie Eamonn said she wants women to know that breast cancer affected women from the age of 20 and to not wait until you are 50 to get checked. So she and McGrath stage public events such as Wednesday’s Semi Truck Pull event at the Brisbane Truck Center to promote public awareness while having some fun.

For the event, several amateur strongmen and women were in attendance, alongside the winning strongwoman truck puller Sue Metcalf. The winning male competitor pulled the 40 ton Western Star semi truck approximately 100 feet in about 22 seconds. Impressively, Sue Metcalf showed that women can do anything when she took on the pink truck and only took about 33 seconds to pull it about 100 feet. After her efforts Sue, the top ranking female strong woman in Australia, admitted it was hard.  “You’d be puffing after too,” she told channel seven and nine camera men, who were at the media event.
