Truck drivers have a tough job filled with pitfalls, fines, regulation and headache. It doesn’t help when a carrier or a dispatcher makes their work day harder by fudging numbers and making false promises.
Small wonder that 2012’s biggest trucking industry issue turns out to be NOT regulation, but qualified driver turnover. Somehow, we feel these two issues are inter-related, but that’s for another time.
In 2012, the driver turnover rate flipped triple digits. That signals a very large level of dissatisfaction among qualified drivers and how they feel they’re being treated by their carriers and companies. As this infographic illustrates, pinching pennies on the business side to the shortfall of driver satisfaction doesn’t save money, it actually costs money. To everyone.
