UPS Releases Increased Shipping Costs For 2013

UPS Shipping Increases 2013United Parcel Service Inc.(UPS) on Friday, released new published rates for 2013, including an average net increase of 4.5% on all UPS Air and U.S. origin international services and 4.9% on UPS Ground services.

According to the company, the rate increase for UPS Air and International Services is based on a 6.5% average increase in the base rate, less a two percentage point reduction to the Air and International fuel surcharge table. The rate increase for UPS Ground services is based on a 5.9% average increase in the base rate, less a one percentage point reduction to the Ground fuel surcharge table.

In addition, UPS Next Day Air Freight, UPS 2nd Day Air Freight and UPS 3 Day Freight rates for shipments within and between the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico will increase 4.9%.

UPS service and technology enhancements and published rates will become effective. These rates reflect continued investments in our global logistics services, including:

• Expansion of UPS Express Plus and UPS Express service areas, allowing you to ship to more destinations with a scheduled time of delivery and a money-back guarantee
• Additional destinations for UPS Expedited service
• The ability to use UPS Paperless Invoice for shipments to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway
• WorldShip enhancements, including new functions to upload additional customs documentation, display customer-specific messages on shipping labels, and combine small package and freight shipments
