Specifications 2013 Freightliner CascadiaThe flagship of the Freightliner family is back for 2013, and it’s more efficient and comfortable than ever. It sounds like Freightliner has really been listening to long haul truckers these last few years (and budget hawks too). Looks like they have have a winner.

Freightliner loves to claim that  the Cascadia is one of the most thoroughly tested and refined models ever. From bumper to back of cab, its graceful, windswept lines produce the lowest drag coefficient of any Freightliner model yet. Not that this model would need it, since it has three powerful options for giddyup.

3 Engine Types Available for the 2013 Cascadia

With every element designed and manufactured to optimize performance, reliability and durability, the Cummins ISX15 EPA 2010 engine is a totally integrated system with near-zero emissions and uncompromising performance.

Or choose the super efficient Detroit DD15 powerplant. It features 90% peak torque in just 1.5 seconds. BlueTec® SCR emissions technology, standard with the DD13®, DD15® and DD16® engines, provides greater fuel economy and extended regeneration intervals to boost engine longevity. Plus, with near-zero emissions, SCR is the first and only technology that has power paired with a gentle environmental footprint.

For regional runners, Freighliner also offers the new Cummins ISX12 G heavy-duty natural gas engine. It operates on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) and features: 400 hp and 1,450 lb-ft torque, optional engine brake, and manual or automatic transmission.

Modernized, Lower Pressure HVAC System

The Cascadia HVAC system features a large condenser to reduce system pressure and increase the life of the components. The Cascadia’s robust ventilation system keeps both driver and passengers comfortable.

Quiet, Insulated Cab

Studies have shown the louder the cab, the worse a driver sleeps. This leads to slower reaction time on the road. The stiff, curved cab walls of the Cascadia reduce vibration noise, and a thick blanket of noise-dampening insulation covers everything inside the cab. So behind the wheel or asleep in the bunk, the cab”with a high level of insulation as standard”is quiet for reduced driver fatigue, improved sleep and, ultimately, safer roads.

Other features of the 2013 Freightliner Cascadia:

  •     Fridge at waist level, not below the knees
  •     Rattle-free shelves that stay put
  •     Ample tie-downs and storage pockets
  •     Plush mattress, 40″ wide x 80″ long
  •     Tall mid-roof design with 78 at the bunk, available in 48″, 60″ and 72″ sleeper lengths.
  •     Multiple DC outlets: two in the dashboard and two under the bunk
