Indiana State Troopers Indiana State Police now have a new tool in their arsenal.  They’re using high-tech radar guns to detect  if you’re following too closely to the vehicle in front of you.

The $,5500 laser devices clock the time and distance between vehicles, if you’re less than 2 seconds from the vehicle in front of you, you’ll receive a $140 citation.

“Besides capturing the traffic violation, the gun takes an accurate image of the license plate and driver’s face. ‘It’s awfully hard to dispute this in court,’ Wojas said. Troopers can use the gun on an overpass or more typically along a shoulder of the Borman,” the Sun Times reported.

Indiana State Police currently only have two such detectors; however, according to the Sun Times, the state plans for each municipality to have at least one.
