On Wednesday, Douglas Caeton, 49, of Colfax, California was traveling along Interstate 84 in the Baker City, Oregon, when he began suffering a heart attack.

Despite his grave condition, Caeton had the presence of mind to avoid other vehicles and pull his truck off the road near mile marker 307.

According to the police report, an off-duty doctor was on scene doing CPR on the driver when emergency responders arrived. Caeton was transported by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City where he was later pronounced dead.

Truck drivers risk their lives each and everyday while on the road.  Although Caeton was suffering a fatal heart attack, he managed to steer his truck away from traffic, a true professional until the very end.

Rest in peace, driver.
