Tanorexic Mom Charged with Burning Her 5-Year-Old

New Jersey resident, Patricia Krentcil, is being charged with child endangerment after allegedaly taking her 5-year-old, fair-skinned daughter into the tanning bed.
The little girl, Anna Krentcil, went to the school nurse’s office to complain of a sunburn. When the nurse asked her how she got the burn, Anna told the nurse that her mom had taken her to the tanning bed.
The school’s nurse then called child protective services.
Krentcil denies taking her daughter to the tanning bed and told the media that her daughter’s burn came from spending a day in the sun.
“I never once in my life let me daughter, especially at that age, go into a tanning booth,” Krentcil, who is out on $25,000 bail, explained, adding, “I’m very tan and I’ve been tanning my whole life.”
In New Jersey, it is illegal for anyone under the age of 14 to visit a tanning bed.
The UVA rays, emitted from Ultraviolet A light sources in a tanning bed, are two to three times morepowerful than the UVA rays which occur naturally from the sun.
Krentcil is now out on $25,000 bail. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
