Adam changes his voice with gases Remember inhaling helium out a balloon as kid for a few hilarious seconds of that high-pitched, Alvin and the Chipmunks voice? In this episode of Mythbusters, Adam explains what causes that phenomenon and also introduces another voice-altering gas: sulfur hexafluoride.  Sulfur hexafluoride gives Adam the voice of Darth Vader… and it’s pretty funny.

Adam starts out by asking us not to try the stunt at home. That’s okay, Adam, we’ll let you inhale the strange chemicals while we watch.

Note: You shouldn’t inhale sulfur hexafluoride because its heavy and its pretty hard to get out of the lungs. Also breathing high qualities of helium is dangerous too. And if you don’t get enough air your pass out.
