A month and a half-long, nationwide manhunt for a man suspected in the deaths of a Colorado trucking company owner and his family has ended.
Authorities captured Harry Carl Mapps, 59, on Saturday night in Roland, Oklahoma.
According to the Pueblo Chieftain, U.S. Marshals, with the assistance of Oklahoma Highway Patrol and local law enforcement, apprehended Mapps at a small hotel near Interstate 40.
Mapps is wanted for the shooting deaths of Reginald and Kim Tuttle and their daughter, Dawn Roderick, of Rye, Colorado. After the shootings, the home was set on fire.
Mapps was living with the Tuttles at the time of the murders and working as a dispatcher for Tuttle’s trucking company.
Following the murders, Mapps was caught on tape cashing checks from the Tuttle’s bank account.

Mapps will likely face three counts first-degree murder, felony theft, identity theft, forgery and arson charges. Additionally, the U.S. Marshall Service has filed federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution charges. He is being held in Oklahoma without bond.
Mapps was caught after local Roland, Oklahoma residents recognized the suspect vehicle, as Mapps was still driving the van he was seen in while cashing check on the day of the murders.
“Roland, Okla., is kind of a small town right off of I-40. I-40 is a known interstate that goes from the East Coast to the West Coast,” J.R. Hall, Pueblo County undersheriff, told the Pueblo Chieftain. “Those major thoroughfares are what we were looking for given his trucking background, and we had every indication he would be staying in smaller hotels along the way.”
