Video: Firefighters Pushing Blazing Trailer Off Overpass

Published:

A truck driver jumped to safety after his truck caught on fire Thursday.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning in Waterloo, Iowa on Highway 218.  The driver’s truck slid on the icy overpass and went over the highway and dangled over the road below.  The driver Victor Ivantsov was able to jump 15 feet below to safety.

The Roadway truck was loaded with engine parts, allegedly made of magnesium.

“When we got here, the semi cab and first part of the dual trailers were hanging over the rail there, and the cab was on fire, and the guy was trying to climb out,” said Capt. Bill Harter with Waterloo Fire Rescue.

The fire began to spread to the second trailer, so firefighters pushed the blazing trailer over the side of the overpass, onto the highway below.
