The East River Mountain Tunnel connects Bluefield, West Virginia, and Rocky Gap, Virginia. The mile-long tunnel is one of two tunnels in the U.S. which crosses state lines. Construction on this massive tunnel road started in 1969 and was completed in 1974, with a total cost of $40 million.
