Amtrak Train Collides With Cement Truck

An injury-accident involving an Amtrak train (headed to Chicago from Indiana) and a cement truck occurred on Tuesday morning this week in Northwestern Indiana.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Department, 14 of the train’s passengers have complained of resulting pain, and were transported to nearby hospitals.

Fortunately, the truck driver was uninjured – and there were no life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. as the truck crossed the railroad tracks which run adjacent to U.S. 421.

The train split the cement truck in two.

At the time of the accident, the train was carrying 3 crew members and 56 passengers.
