Authorities Trying to Find Family of Truck Driver Who Died At New Mexico Truck Stop

Published:

Authorities in New Mexico are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the family of a truck driver who was found deceased in his truck at a truck stop in New Mexico nearly two months ago.

On October 6, 2014, the body of 60-year-old James William Newton was found inside his truck at the Pilot truck stop in Jamestown, New Mexico.

CDLLife spoke with McKinley Administrative Assistant to Investigations Judith Grijalva who said Newton appears to have died from natural causes.

For nearly 2 months, detectives have been trying to track down Newton’s family.

Grijalva told CDLLife that for the past three months, Newton has been employed by JASH Trucking Inc., of Bakersfield, California.

Newton’s license indicates he lived in Boise, Idaho. Newton has resided in Boise, Idaho; Bueno Park, California; Lakeside, Arizona; Anaheim, California; La Belle, Missouri; Quincy, Illinois; High Point, North Carolina; Norco, CA; Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Davenport, Iowa.

Newton’s former neighbor said she believed Newton may have been a Vietnam War veteran.

Newton’s date of birth is April 22, 1954. He was 6’1″ and weighed 185 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes.

CDLLife spoke with a representative at JASH Trucking who said Newton told him that his son passed away 10 years ago.

If you have any information about Newton’s family or friends, you’re asked to contact Chief Investigator Merle Bates or Administrative Assistant to Investigations Judith Grijalva at (505) 722-8514.
