The FMCSA today announced the owner of a household goods moving company has pleaded guilty to conducting interstate moves without registering for a DOT HHG Operating Authority.
On November 5, 2014, Dunwoodie McDuffie, the owner of Mr. Move, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court of New Orleans, Louisiana, to conducting interstate moves from February to April of 2013.
Mr. Move operated in the New Orleans, Louisiana area. The company performed both interstate and intrastate HHG moves.
In December 2008, the company was placed OOS by the FMCSA for failing to comply with safety regulations. As a result, the company’s interstate operating authority was revoked, however, an investigation found that Mr. Move had conducted 17 interstate moves between January 2013 and August 2013.
According to the Department of Justice, Mc Diffie pleaded guilty to to eight counts of conducting interstate moves without proper authority. He faces up to one year imprisonment for each count and a up to $100,000 fine for each count, totaling 8 years and $800,000.
In addition, Mc Duffie could be sentenced to up to a year of supervised release.
