Walmart Driver Reaches 3 Million Safe Miles

Published:

TEXAS: New Braunfels, Walmart truck driver, David Alexander is being recognized for hitting more than 3 million safe miles!

On Wednesday, November 12th Alexander was presented with a new, personalized tractor for his achievement. Walmart hosted a ceremony at their New Braunfels Distribution Center, which Alexander’s family and co-workers attended.

According to Alexander, his achievement was not accomplished by luck, but by practicing consideration for other drivers, and focusing on the road.

According to Jeff Arnold, Alexander’s safety manager: “David has gone 27 years working with us without any accidents. To put 3 million miles in perspective for you — that’s longer than a trip to the moon, and more miles than an average person will ever drive in their lifetime.”

Walmart’s fleet consists of over 7,200 drivers, 6,000 tractors, 53,500 trailers, and 5,600 reefers.

Of the 190 truck drivers at Walmart’s New Braunfels Distribution Center, only 3 have ever reached 3 million safe miles.

Alexander has been driving for Walmart for 27 years – and had achieved 1 million safe miles prior to his employment there. This puts him at an impressive 4 million safe miles.

But he couldn’t have done it alone! According to Alexander, “My family is very important to me. My wife and I have been married for 36 years, and she’s given me a lot of support. Obviously it’s important for me to make it home because of them. I just try to stay alert and drive like my life depends on it, because it does.”

Great work, driver!
