45,000 Pounds Of Cheese Overturned In I-90 Truck Roll-Over Accident

Published:

A tractor-trailer hauling 45,000 pounds of cheese turned over around 10:00 a.m. while driving westbound I-90 on Friday in South Dakota.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Michigan Driver, who was identified as Jeremy Strotheide (37) had lost control while reaching for his cigarette lighter.

It took nearly six hours to clean up the accident scene – mostly due to the large amount of cheese. Although none was spilled from the trailer, the load had to be unpacked before tipping the trailer back up.

The rig sustained over $20,000 in damages.

The driver was uninjured, as he had been wearing a seatbelt – he will be ticketed for careless driving.
