Gordon Trucking Helps Find Missing Kids With Photos On Trucks

Published:

Washington-based Gordon Trucking Company is partnering with Washington State Patrol to help find missing children using the power of high-visibility.

Since 2006, the two agencies have been working together through a program called Homeward Bound, posting large images of missing and exploited children on trailers in an effort to bring them back to their families.

Washington State Patrol Sergeant Dave DeVere told KLEW-TV, “The hope is that drivers might see one of the photographs, make a phone call and give information if they’ve spotted them somewhere.”

Gordon Trucking now has more than 85 trailers displaying a photo of a missing child, whose suspected whereabouts correspond with the route of the truck.

There are almost 23,000 children reported missing in Washington State every year. The National Center for Missing and Exploited children reports that 1 in 6 missing child is recovered due to public viewing of a picture.

Since the program’s beginning, at least seven children featured on Gordon trucks have been recovered.

To view a list of missing children nation-wide go to National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at www.missingkids.com.
