Oregon Highway Shuts Down Due to ‘Truck/Traveler Parking’ Along the Interstate

Published:

Interstate 84 westbound in Baker City, Oregon today shutdown at milepost 302 “because truck/traveler parking is filled due to closures further west,” Oregon Department of Transportation’s Facebook page states.

Local truck stops reportedly filled up with truck and travelers, because of hazardous road conditions, and trucks were forced to park along the highway.

Oregon Department of Transportation states that road conditions in Morrow and Umatilla counties were extremely hazardous.  They recommended drivers postpone their trips until conditions improved.

Oregon’s TripCheck.com reports that “I-82, Intersection with Old Oregon Trail Highway I-84 MP 11 is shut down at this time.”

At this time, Interstate 84 westbound has reopened.

“I-84 is now open between Boardman and Ontario (MP 159 – 371). OR 207, OR 11 and OR 204 are also open to travel in eastern Oregon. I-82 remains closed between I-84 junction and Washington border. Travelers are cautioned to watch for icy spots, tow trucks and crews working along the side of the roadway as wrecked/stranded vehicles are removed. Check TripCheck.com or call 511 / 800-977-6268 for update conditions,” Oregon Department of Transportation’s Facebook page states.
