Portion of Indiana Truck Stop Food Plaza Shut Down by County Health Department

Published:

The Elkhart Truth reports that the food plaza at the Gallops Travel Plaza has been partially shut down by the Elkhart County Health Department because of a licensing issue.

The castle-like truck stop is located on U.S. 20, at the intersection of S.R. 15 in Goshen, Indiana.

Health Department investigators found that employees at the truck stop were serving food, however the truck stop does not hold a full-service license. The county health department requires establishments that serve food to hold a full-service license and  be subjected to safety and sanitation inspections.

The truck stop does have a Subway and McDonald’s, which are unaffected by the shutdown, as they have individual licensing from the county.

The truck stop features a coffee and baked goods area, as well.

Until the truck stop can obtain a full-service license from the county, only pre-packaged foods may be sold at the truck stop.
