The hunt is on for the thief who stole a truck full of Hershey’s chocolate from the parking lot of JD Lewis Trucking Company in Volusia County, Florida.
Deputies said the tractor-trailer, stolen sometime between 3 p.m Saturday and 7 p.m Sunday, was loaded with an estimated $120,000 worth of Hershey’s products.
“Yeah, somebody with a sweet tooth,” driver Den Szorosy told a 911 dispatcher on Sunday.
The truck, a 2014 Volvo valued at around $90,000, disappeared overnight with few clues left behind. The police cased the lot and checked the truck’s GPS, but it had been disabled.
“He has fences all around, he has video camera, part I don’t understand is how they can drive out of there without doing any damage to his property whatsoever,” Jessica Ogle, who owns the transportation company next door, told Local 6 in Orlando.
Szorosy told Local 6 he has been put on suspension while his company investigates what happened to the missing truck, which belongs to Sunstate Carriers, a refrigerated truckload carrier based in Tavares, Fl.
The truck is white with two horizontal stripes – red and orange – with Florida tag F3413H.
