Span of I-15 in Nevada To Remain Closed Until Weekend

Published:

Flash flooding in Nevada has shut down I-15, north of Las Vegas.  According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, I-15  (from mile marker 64 in Glendale to mile marker 112 in Mesquite) remains closed at this time and will likely be closed until the weekend.

“Throughout the day, crews have been working hard, removing debris and doing preliminary earthwork to rebuild the flood-eroded sections of I-15 near the Moapa area.  Interstate is projected to remain closed for a number of days as extensive flood damage is repaired,” NDOT said in a Facebook post.

Nevada Department of Transportation recommends drivers use U.S. 93 between Las Vegas and Utah.  Passenger vehicles may use Valley of Fire State Park /SR169.

“We hope to have one lane in each direction open by the weekend,” Nevada Department of Transportation spokeswoman Julie Duewel said.

NDOT officials are asking drivers to avoid the area, if at all possible.  Nevada maps for potential detour routes are available by selecting “Travel Info” on www.nevadadot.com.
