Traffic Stoppage Planned On I-95 In Connecticut Tonight And Wednesday

Published:

If you plan on passing through New Haven, Connecticut tonight or Wednesday, you may want to avoid Interstate 95, as signs are being put in place and traffic is being delayed.

Officials say traffic along I-95 in the Long Wharf area will come to a stop as crews install overhead sign supports around Exit 46 as part of the New Haven Harbor Crossing Project.

Work is set to begin at 9 p.m. tonight with the traffic stopping for 35 minutes somewhere between midnight and 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The following I-95 ramps will be closed only during traffic stoppage: the southbound off-ramp to Sargent Drive and the northbound on and off ramps to Long Wharf Drive.

Crews will repeat the work schedule on the same section of highway Wednesday night, October 1. Motorists should expect the same lane and ramp closures as tonight, officials say.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation suggests that motorists plan ahead for significant delays and consider alternate routes.

The DOT will also be closing the I-91 southbound connection to I-95 northbound and at the Wooster Street I-95 north on-ramp October 3 to 5 due to accelerated bridge construction, according to officials.
