Truck Driver Struck and Killed, $1Million in Cash Found in Burned Trailer

Published:

On December 2, truck driver,  Eric Royster, 36, of North Carolina, died on Interstate 20 in Harrison County, Texas.

Royster’s truck caught on fire, because of an apparent mechanical issue.  The truck driver pulled over, and he and his passenger exited the truck and were reportedly watching it burn when Royster was struck and killed by a pickup truck.

After the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered $1,000,000 in cash stored in the trailer.  KWTX reports that the cash was stashed in plastic and aluminum foil alongside the furniture he was hauling.

The truck’s passenger told authorities that he was unaware that the cash was there.

Authorities are trying to to trace the money, however, they believe the money is tied with organized crime.
