Trucking Company Owner Beats Man With Stick

Published:

A 31-year-old trucking company owner form Huntingon, Texas, allegedly beat a man with a stick after being asked about the employee’s paycheck.

Martin Shoel Brashear of Shoel Brashear Trucking, recently gave himself up to authorities after being charged with a second degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the affidavit, when one of his employees arrived at the office to collect his paycheck, Brasher said, “I’ll give you your check when I feel like it.”

Apparently upset by that comment, the victim called his wife to inform her that once he gets his paycheck, he’s quitting his job. He then left and began collecting items from his work truck and transferring them into his personal vehicle.

Brashear allegedly approached the employee, who was looking down at the time, and struck him in the head. The victim fell to the ground and when he looked up, saw Brashear swinging at him with a large stick typically used for livestock.

Brashear then struck his employee several times on the hands and arms as the victim tried to deflect blows to his head, according to the affidavit. The deputy who interviewed the victim at Memorial Hospital took note of the injuries – a large bump on his head, swollen arms and about a 2-inch cut on his forearm. X-rays also later revealed that the victim had a fractured right hand.

After the arrest, Brashear posted $10,000 bail and was released later that day.
