Trucking Company Owner Pleads Guilty to Cargo Theft Scheme

Published:

A trucking company owner has pleaded guilty to his role in a cargo-theft ring.

On Monday, Earl Nunn, 59, owner of Nu World Trucking of Memphis, Tennessee,  pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Rush in Springfield, Missouri.

According to KSPR, those involved in the ring would bobtail to truck stops and rest areas, on the lookout for unattended trailers. They would hook up to unattended trailers and haul the stolen loads to Chicago and Detroit, where the goods would be sold.

Prosecutors say that Nunn and his co-conspirators, nephew Michael Lee Sherley, 49 and son, Roderick Nunn, stole trailers from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Nunn faces a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison without parole, and a fine up to $250,000.
