A fiery, chain-reaction, tractor trailer crash on I-20 in Douglas County, Georgia caused quite a scary scene earlier today.

According to the responding authorities, a tractor trailer slowed down in the right lane for a weigh station and was struck by another truck which was traveling directly behind it. Upon impact, two more tractor trailers immediately hit the second truck.

Shortly after the crash occurred, the second truck caught fire.

Fortunately for the driver in the second truck, nine motorists stopped to help him out of the burning cab – prior to the arrival of emergency responders.

According to the authorities, the second driver’s clothing caught fire as well, but they were able to it out. He was transported to the Grady Hospital Burn Unit by ambulance – even though it (the ambulance) got a flat tire at the scene due to the debris from the crash.

The driver is in serious but stable condition.

All lanes of traffic were closed from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

– Thanks to the caring motorists who stopped to help!
