Werner Announces Third Freedom Truck

Published:

Werner this week introduced a third truck to its Operational Freedom fleet.

The military-themed truck will travel with company driver Immanuel Odongkara on his usual routes, as well as be showcased at truck shows and other events such as veteran ceremonies promoting the company’s military apprentice program.

Odongkara, a Ughanda, Africa native and 20-year Navy veteran, expressed his appreciation and excitement as the chosen driver of the new truck.

“This opportunity is like winning the lottery,” he said. “I am able to drive this beautiful truck and represent the country and the company. I just want to do the best I can, and can’t wait.”

Named a top 10 Rookie of the Year finalist at the Great American Trucking show, Odongkara has shined at Werner ever since he signed on as a driver two years ago. Prior to Werner, he traveled with the military as an aircraft mechanic.

Werner partnered with the White House veteran campaign to create the Operational Freedom program, which, in part, provides structured, year-long education for veterans through the military apprentice program.

As one of the five largest U.S. truckload carriers, Werner Enterprises, Inc., founded in 1956, provides services  throughout North America, Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and Australia.
