Truck Driver Donates Racing Funds to St. Judes, Ronald McDonald House

Published:

“It costs $1,000,000.00 a day to operate St. Jude’s and  the Ronald McDonald House,” Hirschbach driver  Terry Williams explained.

Williams, of Branson, Missouri,  wants to help those who help others, so he’s decided to use his passion and hobby to raise money for St. Jude’s and the Ronald McDonald house.

Williams is part of a Facebook group called Truckers are Bored.  Williams and the group are working together to build a race car that Williams owns. The car will be entered into races.  Williams, who has been racing since he was 8 years old, will drive the car in the races, and winnings from the races will be donated directly to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

“We are asking for help with some of the expenses involved in the car. Once the expenses are covered all the proceeds will go to St. Jude’s. This gives everyone a opportunity to give to a organization that’s been helping children and their families when a life threatening illness or disease is involved. If we all give a little it will make a huge difference,” he continued.

The group is hoping to raise $10,000 for car parts and maintenance, however anything they raise over $6,000 will automatically go to St. Jude’s.  The group also plans to give a 20″ TV to the biggest donor.

“We hope that the trucking community can come together and donate to this really great charity. This will help show that truckers aren’t just the hands that drive 18 wheelers, they have hearts as well,” Williams said.

In addition to donating the winnings to St. Jude’s, Williams said he plans to take the car to local Ronald McDonald houses to allow children to sit in the car and have their pictures taken.  William said he hopes the visits will brighten the children’s day.

He also plans to take the car to trucking events and shows.
