Truck Driver Wins Big On $1 Scratcher

Published:

A roller coaster of emotions is a saying that may be overused, but I don’t think  that any other expression could be used  to describe the two days that Maysville, Calif. truck driver, Timothy McDaniel, just went through.

On Saturday night, McDaniel, 55, tragically lost his wife to a heart attack.

The very next night McDaniel stopped at the College Villa Market on North Beale Road and purchased a $1 scratcher.

McDaniel scratched the card and found that he had won a $650,000 reward!

McDaniel couldn’t help but think his wife may have been watching over him Sunday night, bringing him a little extra luck.

“I think she just kind of sent me this money so I could continue taking care of the (grand) kids,” McDaniel said in a written statement from the California Lottery.

McDaniel decided to take the cash option, which means he will receive a lump sum of $375,000 before taxes.

McDaniel said he hopes to buy a house and a new truck and put the rest in the bank.

“Everything happens for a reason, and this is the break I needed,” McDaniel said. “I’m going to keep on working and living my life the same I always have. The only difference is I have a big family, and now if anybody needs anything, I can help them out.”
