VIDEO: Horse-Drawn Carriages Loses Control and Rams Cars

Published:

A spooked horse spurred a scary situation in downtown Savannah on Monday afternoon.

The horse’s bridle broke causing the bit to come loose. It was then that the driver of the carriage lost control, and the horse took off – wildly pulling its passenger-filled carriage down the street.

Five people were riding in the carriage, including three children – none of which were seriously injured.

The driver, Ashley Bignault was ejected and has been hospitalized with a broken heel at Memorial University Medical Center.

A total of five vehicles were damaged during the incident.

According to one witness, the horse and carriage were bouncing off of cars “like a pin-ball” as it galloped down the street.

Fortunately, employees at a nearby restaurant were able to finally control and calm the escaped equine by feeding it carrots.

The horse was not injured, and this is the first incident in downtown Savannah involving a horse and carriage.
