Alabama Trucker Accidentally Killed By Trooper Looking For Him

An Alabama trucker David P. Watford is dead after he was struck by a State Trooper in Madison Parish, Louisiana, on Tuesday (March 17) around 12:30 a.m.

The Search for Missing Trucker Ends in Tragedy

Louisiana authorities discovered Watford’s truck abandoned in a lane of travel on US 65 six miles north of Tallulah and began searching for the driver.

Master Trooper Kenny Baker was involved in the search for Watford. When heading south on US 65, he struck Watford, who was walking in the southbound lane facing traffic. Baker was uninjured in the accident.

Truck Driver Pronounced Dead on Scene

The Madison Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Watford dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated. The toxicology results are pending, but impairment is not suspected. Authorities are still unsure why Watford abandoned his truck.

Louisiana State Police have noted that Baker was wearing a camouflage shirt and that there was a wide shoulder on US 65.
