Florida Highway Patrol To Target Aggressive Drivers On I-95

Published:

The Florida Highway Patrol announced plans to step up enforcement on unsafe drivers on I-95 in hopes of reducing the number of accidents and highway fatalities on the notoriously dangerous interstate.

TACT Campaign to Target Both Cars and Trucks

The Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT) safety campaign means that there will be increased trooper presence on I-95 now through Sunday. Monday through Thursday, troopers will focus on commercial vehicles. Friday through the rest of the weekend, the Highway Patrol will look for aggressive drivers in both cars and commercial vehicles.

Director of the Florida Highway Patrol Colonel David Brierton defines aggressive driving as “when a motorist commits two or more moving violations, such as speeding, unsafe lane changes, following too closely, not yielding the right of way, improper passing, or failure to obey traffic control devices. Any one of these behaviors is dangerous by itself, and a combination of these can be deadly.”
