Drinking Water To Lose Weight

Published:

How much water do you consume on a daily basis?

Are you frequently reaching for a soda instead of that water bottle you bought but never use? If so, rethink your next beverage.

Here are a few tips about the benefits of drinking more water while trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight:

• Did you know 2/3 of our body weight is water? – Men should consume 125 oz. of water daily, and women should consume 91 oz. each day. – That’s a lot more than you remember hearing, right? The intake of cold water speeds up your metabolism, replenishes muscles, and leaves your body feeling better and ready for whatever you’re facing next.

• Drinking two 8-ounce glasses of water about 20 to 30 minutes before your meal will help you to feel full. You’ll be less hungry, and you’ll consume 75 to 90 fewer calories at that particular meal. If you drink two glasses of water before every meal (3 times per day), you are essentially cutting 225 to 270 unnecessary calories from your diet!

• Reducing your salt intake while staying hydrated will cause your body to drop extra water weight. Some examples of foods that are heavy in salt include are: canned and frozen foods, lunchmeat, and chips.

• When you sweat, your muscles lose water. If you consume water immediately after any strenuous activities, not only will it help to energize your body, but it will also aid in creating healthy and stronger muscles.

• Want clearer skin? Did you know drinking water helps your body flush out unwanted toxins? Including those that cause inflamed red spots and even acne!

• If you deal with aching muscles and joints, the more water you drink, the less pain you may feel. Being dehydrated or having too little water in your body promotes joint and muscle pain. Help put a stop to those aches with some water!

• If you’re not used to the taste (or lack thereof) water, try adding some fruit to a pitcher of cold water. Store it in your fridge, and over time the fruit will add flavor. You can also try many of the powders and liquids sold in most grocery stores. – Just be sure to check the labels for excessive amounts of sugar.
