Epsom Salt: Why You Need It In Your Truck

Published:

Epsom salt has many useful benefits.  It can be used to soothe sore muscles, aid with constipation and much, much more.

If you don’t have a box of epsom salt in your truck, here are a few reasons you should.

1. Use epson salt to soothe achy muscles.  We understand a bath may be a bit hard to come by when you’re on the road, but adding a cup of epsom salt to a warm bath will help ease tension in your muscles.

2. Epsom salt is can help relieve constipation. Simply mix a tablespoon of one glass of water and drink. (This should only be used for occasional constipation. Always consult your doctor before taking any sort of laxative).

3. Epsom salt is great at treating bug bites. During the summer, it’s not uncommon to be eaten alive by mosquitos.  Epsom salt can help stop the itch.  Dissolve a tablespoon of epsom salt in to 1/2 cup of room temperature water. Dab the solution onto affected areas.

4. If you have a deep splinter, epsom salt can be used as a drawing salve. Mix 1/4 cup of epsom salt into a foot tub of water and soak the affected area.

5. Epsom salt eases the symptoms of athlete’s foot. Simply soak your feet in an epsom salt and water mixture.

6. Epsom salt helps ease the discomfort of gout. Add 2-3 teaspoons of epsom salts into a tub or bowl of hot water and immerse the affected area.

7. Epsom salt helps regulate insulin. “Both magnesium and sulfate help to improve the body’s ability to produce and use insulin. Regular intake of Epsom salts – either orally or transdermally – may help to regulate blood sugar, lowering the risk of diabetes and improving your overall daily energy levels,” Natural Living Ideas states.

8. Use epsom salt as an exfoliant.  Dead skin can make you itchy! Mix equal parts epsom salt and baby oil (or your favorite body oil or olive oil) and rub the mixture into your skin.  The salt will rub away the dead skin and the oil will moisturize.
