Delivery Truck Driver’s Facebook Warning About Cell Phones And Driving Goes Viral

Published:

A delivery truck driver’s Facebook warning to the parents of a young woman who pulled out in front of her truck while chatting on the phone is going viral, much to the driver’s surprise.

The young woman had apparently pulled over on the shoulder of a highway to talk on her cell phone. After she hung up, she immediately pulled out — right in front of an oncoming truck.

After the heart-stopping highway close call, driver Sherry Stouth posted the following message on Facebook: “If your daughter drives a small black SUV with lots of chrome and license plate BLMB 5##. Her cell phone almost killed her. Long dark hair, slim build, olive complexion… Yup that’s how close I got before the truck stopped”. This Facebook post has since been shared over 20,000 times.

Stouth says that the message about the dangers of cell phone use while driving seems to have made an impact, but that many motorists are not choosing appropriate locations to pull off to use the phone. The shoulder of the highway is designed for emergencies, not for impromptu texting sessions or phone chats.

Stouth reported the incident to the police and it is still under investigation.
