Volvo announced recently that it will recall almost 4,000 trucks because of brake and steering problems that could cause a crash.
The recalled vehicles are 2012-2015 VNL and VNM trucks manufactured May 31, 2011, to December 1, 2014. On these trucks, the trailer hand brake handle may not return to the off position due to being restricted by the cut out in the trim panel. This could result in a wheel end fire or tire blowout — both of which could cause a crash.
The recall is expected to begin on October 13. Volvo will contact truck owners and dealers will correct the problem for free.
Volvo’s VAH trucks model year 2012-2016 are also subject to recall because of steering issues. In these trucks, the draglink ball socket boot may be damaged due to the angle of the ball stud. This could lead to corrosion and eventually cause steering problems that could cause a crash.
