Box Truck Dangles Off I-93, Interferes With Boston Rail Train Traffic

The cab of a box truck dangled precariously off of an I-93 overpass over a section of railroad tracks in Dorchester for about two hours this morning.

The box truck broke through a barrier on the on the southbound side of I-93 around 6 a.m. State police shut down the lanes near the truck, but rush hour traffic was able to pass through three other lanes. The truck was pulled back onto the highway with the help of a crane around 8:15 a.m.

There is not yet any word on what caused the crash or the condition of the box truck driver.

The accident forced the city to replace Red Line services in some areas with shuttles, causing major disruptions to the morning commute.
