Convoy To Accompany Truck Driver To His Funeral

Published:

A convoy will honor the memory of fallen truck driver Chris Fletcher tomorrow (April 28) in Flandreau, South Dakota.

Fletcher’s 2005 Peterbilt extended-hood truck will be driven by Luke Dowling of Dowling Trucking (Fletcher’s most recent employer) to lead the convoy down East Pipestone Avenue from Flandreau’s western edge to Highway 13 on the east.

Fletcher’s wife of 14 years Melissa wants as many trucks as possible as a tribute to her husband. “Let’s … show this amazing man some love!” she said in a recent Facebook post.

Fletcher passed unexpectedly in his truck last week. His truck was first in line to unload corn at an ethanol processing plant. When other drivers had to go around him, they started to expect something was amiss. He was found in his sleeper area.

If you’d like to participate in the convoy, meet at the Cenex station on Flandreau’s western edge by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The convoy will travel the 1.5 miles on East Pipestone Avenue through Flandreau.
