Couple Charged For Robbing Trucker At Knifepoint

A couple from Madison, Illinois is facing charges after they allegedly robbed a driver who had been sleeping in his truck at knifepoint on Monday morning.

Armed Couple Force Their Way Into Cab

The truck driver told police that he was sleeping in his truck in rural Granite City around 2 a.m. when he was awakened by knocking on the door. When he opened it, the couple forced their way into the cab and demanded money. The truck driver refused. The male suspect told the driver that the female suspect would cut him with a knife she was armed with if he didn’t comply, but the driver still refused to give them money. At this point, the couple attacked the driver.

After the attack, the driver finally gave the suspects money and they fled in a dark red Ford minivan.

Police Find and Arrest Suspects

Around 4:30 a.m., a Madison police officer spotted the vehicle and arrested 44-year-old Darline Coleman and 49-year-old Leroy Pryor. Coleman faces charges of armed robbery and is being held on a $300,000 bond. Pryor is charged with aggravated robbery and is held on a $200,000 bond.

The truck driver suffered only minor cuts and bruises during the attack.
