Fiery Lumber Truck Crash Kills Pregnant Woman, Two Children, And Adult

Published:

This morning’s deadly crash between a lumber truck and a passenger vehicle on a flyover ramp has left two children, a pregnant woman, and one other adult dead in Dallas.

Police say that the crash occurred around 6:35 this morning when a lumber truck and a passenger vehicle collided on the westbound I-20 to southbound I-35E ramp. The vehicles became entangled, causing both gas tanks on the truck to rupture. Both vehicles were soon engulfed in flames.

The pregnant woman, two children, and other adult were all in the passenger vehicle and were killed in the crash. The lumber truck driver was uninjured.

On-site reports say that some of the flaming lumber from the truck dropped down from the flyover ramp onto the shoulder of I-35 East.

Crews were able to put out the fire by 7:45 a.m., but morning traffic was backed up for miles. All lanes have now reopened.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash. They say that the passenger vehicle may have stalled or the truck may have had a mechanical malfunction.
