Man Accused In I-10 Trucker’s Death Faces Negligent Homicide Charge

Published:

The Mississippi motorist whose illegal pass sent a truck flying off the I-10 bridge into the Pearl River will be brought back to Louisiana to face serious charges.

The deadly crash happened on November 3 near Slidell. Daniel Alex Coy, 25, allegedly attempted to pass the truck on the shoulder but ran out of road, forcing the 18 wheeler to crash into another truck and sending 26-year-old truck driver Steven Shawn Clark plunging down to his death.

Coy is facing charges of negligent homicide, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and felony hit and run and could spend several years behind bars.

Louisiana State Troopers are transporting Coy from Mississippi back to Louisiana to stand trial. Coy initially planned to fight the extradition, but later changed his mind.
