Stolen Tanker Truck Leads California Police On Pursuit

Published:

A man is in custody after allegedly stealing a tanker truck from petroleum distributor SC Fuels and leading California police on a slow-speed pursuit from Bellflower to Paramount late last night (March 29).

Truck’s Owner Alerts Police

The California Highway Patrol learned about the stolen tanker truck when the truck’s owner reported it missing. The truck’s owner monitored its location using GPS. An SC Fuels employee followed the truck and called authorities.

LA County sheriff’s deputies reported that the truck driver was driving recklessly and committed several traffic violations.

Driver Surrenders Without Incident

After a short pursuit, the driver surrendered and was taken into custody. He is facing charges of felony evading and grand theft auto.

It is believed that the tanker truck was nearly empty after a full day’s worth of deliveries.
