Two truckers worked together to rescue a grandmother, her two grandchildren, and two dogs from their burning pickup truck after a crash yesterday north of Bellingham, Washington.

The crash happened when a Ford Mustang slowed to turn into a driveway and was rear-ended by a delivery van. The impact pushed the Mustang into traffic.

A 61 year old woman driving a GMC pickup then collided with the Mustang, sending her vehicle into a ditch, where it caught fire. The pickup contained not only the driver but also her two four year old grandchildren and three dogs.

Two Truckers Stop to Help Save Family

After the crash, two truckers from LTI, Inc. stopped their trucks and battled the flames with fire extinguishers, allowing one other Good Samaritan to help free the trapped pickup truck passengers.

The grandmother was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but the grandkids escaped with only minor injuries. One of the dogs was killed, but the other two were rescued.

The Mustang driver and the delivery van driver did not suffer any serious injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash.
