Georgia DOT: ‘Interstate 85 Asphalt Repair Next 2 Weeks’

The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect delays on Interstate 85 for the next two weeks, as . up to three lanes of I-85 northbound will be closed each night.

Crews will be working rom 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night to repair the roadway from Norcross at Jimmy Carter Blvd/Hwy 140, exit 99, to Buford Highway 20, exit 115.

“There is no good time to work on the interstate in Gwinnett County but the best of the worst times is overnight weekdays so that is our plan. Georgia DOT Maintenance Crews will work overnights tonight through Friday morning this week and next week. We will remove the damaged asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt. Work is planned for 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. as weather allows. Up to three lanes could be closed at a time. Delays are expected as work occurs,” Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer serving Gwinnett County, states.
