The unidentified Good Samaritan who helped a Minnesota State Trooper pull a trucker from his burning rig has been found and recognized for his good deed.
The crash occurred on August 31 on Highway 60 in Windom, Minnesota when trooper Ron Richards was holding up traffic for a funeral procession. A truck driver failed to slow down and crashed into the rear end of another truck. The truck that failed to slow down burst into flames.
A motorist stopped his vehicle and ran to the burning truck, helping Richards pull the truck driver to safety. Richards does not believe he would have been able to rescue the driver without help from the Good Samaritan.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Good Samaritan left the scene before Richards could get his name.
The Minnesota State Patrol took to Facebook to find the man who helped save the truck driver’s life. Their post was shared more than 4,000 times, helping the troopers to locate Paul Langseth of Worthington, Minnesota.
The State Patrol called a public press conference at their Mankato headquarters to honor Langseth for his heroic and selfless actions.
At the press conference, Richards praised his bravery, “Paul was ready to take action, didn’t hesitate.”
Langseth said, “it needed to be done. I’d like to think anyone else would have done the same.”
