Kansas Court Sides With FedEx Ground Truck Drivers

Published:

A Kansas court sided with nearly 500 FedEx truck drivers last week, declaring them to be company employees and not independent contractors.

The Kansas truck drivers initially sued FedEx in 2003 for retroactive costs and lost overtime pay.

FedEx said that they had already made financial preparations in case of a loss in Kansas.

The Kansas court’s ruling may have an impact on the 19 other class action employment status suits facing FedEx. FedEx truck drivers in California won status as employees in a similar case in June — to the tune of $228 million.
