Natural Gas Fueled Truck Explodes On Impact With Train

Published:

A truck powered by natural gas hauling flour exploded on impact with a CSX train, injuring the driver and train conductor near the General Mills plant in Buffalo yesterday morning.

The train was reversing when it hit the truck, causing one of the natural gas cells to explode. The cab went up in flames, while the force of the explosion sent debris flying.

Both the train conductor and the truck driver suffered burns during the accident but they are expected to survive. At least one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

A spokesman for CSX said that it was unclear who was to blame for the accident, the truck driver advancing or the train conductor reversing. Buffalo police and CSX are currently investigating the crash.

Security footage captured the moment of impact, which you can view below.
