Queens Truck Driver Rigs Bumper To Avoid Tolls

Published:

Authorities arrested truck driver Pablo Ortega on Wednesday morning in Queens for using a “James Bond” style bumper modification to avoid paying tolls. Port authorities discovered that the truck has a black toggle switch that operates a hydraulic system that lifts the bumper so that license plate readers are unable to register the plates. The back plates are unreadable because they are smeared with grease.

While authorities are unsure how many of the George Washington Bridge EZPass tolls that the driver was able to avoid, they were able to determine that the modification kit cost around $2000.

The truck driver is being held on charges of tampering with public record and the possession of burglary tools.
