Truck Driver Honored For Using Rig To Save Life Of LAPD Officer & Motorist

A truck driver was honored at the Los Angeles City Hall yesterday for his quick thinking move that helped to save the life of an LAPD officer and another motorist.

On March 24, a motorist and an LAPD officer on a motorcycle crashed into each other on 5 Freeway in Sylmar. The officer flew off of his motorcycle and landed on the median, hitting his head.

Truck driver Dorian Cole worked fast to position his truck with the cab in the carpool lane and the trailer blocking the next three lanes, shielding the officer and motorist from being hit by oncoming traffic.

The LAPD officer is still in the hospital, but Cole during the City Hall ceremony that he hopes to have lunch with him when he recovers.
